This is my favourite mod of all time, just what Minecraft needs. Damn, I would love to see it on 1.17.1.

When do you think this mod will be updated? If not to 1.17, maybe 1.16?
Also, have you thought on adding enemy pirate ships, or a village-ship? That would be crazy.

I'm not much of a fan of the aircrafts tho. I think they are too op for the game, maybe it should be harder to get to build them.

Congratulations on making this mod. I'm a programmer too and I would update it myself if I knew how to, because this mod is a piece of art.

How do they update mods? I have no idea on how Minecraft mods work but I'm kinda willing to update it myself (I would NEVER distribute it, just for me)

pretty sure you have to rewrite some code to get it working in newer versions

To mod or update mods you need an understanding of Java and the Forge framework. It's not an easy or simple process. Considering the huge changes that 1.17 brings, many mods will have to be entirely rewritten from scratch.
Also considering how much update questions or requests are asked, it's a good idea to never ask them. If a developer plans on updating they will post it on their modpage or discord. If you don't see any mentions about an update it's because they haven't decided to update yet or won't be updating. Projects have been abandoned before because of people repeatedly asking about updates causing the devs to get annoyed and give up.

If you want a mod like this on 1.16/1.17 check out Plato's Transporters. Davincis Vessels is a 1.12 spiritual successor of Archimedes' Ships which was for 1.7, and Plato's Transporters is a 1.16/17 spiritual successor of Davinvi's Vessels
