Post

A Category Can Split a Heartbeat: a concrete ActivityWatch investigation where an added JSON key survives storage but changes whole-map equality and splits the next heartbeat.

Explains the separate query and lifecycle boundaries, and explicitly says ActivityWatch/aw-server-rust#782 is under review, not a delivered editor. No claim of sync/export portability or Python parity.

Verification

  • Evidence checked against the pinned heartbeat implementation and retained datastore probes.
  • Strict frontmatter validation and redaction-enabled scoped sync passed.
  • Full Jekyll/CSS build passed.
  • Scoped OG image generated; page and image included together.
  • Hook-enabled commits passed in both repositories.

Public page and canonical OG checks remain pending merge and Pages deployment.
