Better storytelling: call it an "international library network" #9

Description

Currently

I am calling the demo pages "realistic" content. However, these things are not very realistic:

  • It's strange to have country-specific pages (library hours, government) in a single microsite.
  • "Welcome to (country)" would make more sense in international languages, not just the language of the country.

Proposed

Tweak the language and layout: call it an "international library network".

Initial ideas about how to communicate this...

  • Add a microsite home page, describing the hypothetical purpose of the demo pages. (This might be more practical, so the demo pages can stay mostly as-is.)
  • In demo page content, hint at real-world use cases
  • In demo pages, identify the overall microsite purpose in the <title> and <h1>

Conceivable real-world use cases:

  • Travelers or newcomers to the country, accessing digital or physical resources
  • People outside the country, accessing digital resources

Why the emphasis on the countries' own languages?

  • Library contents are largely in the language(s) of the country
  • Librarians tend to speak the language(s) of the country

Fun to contemplate, but not planned:

  • Imagine there are also library contents in major international languages (e.g., English, Arabic, Swahili, Spanish, Chinese)
  • Imagine some librarians are multilingual
  • Imagine the librarians are the authors of the demo pages, using a content management system (CMS)
