fix(router-core): keep trailing slash in route id and fullPath types - #8719
BleedingDev wants to merge 2 commits into
Conversation
`RoutePrefix` trimmed the trailing slash from the route path, while the runtime only collapses repeated slashes. `path: '$lang/'` typed as `/$lang` but the runtime id and fullPath are `/$lang/`. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Normalize navigation paths after preserving trailing slashes
When TPath is a non-index path ending in / (including the new all/ test), these branches now make fullPath end in /, but RouteToPathNeverTrailingSlash returns a non-index fullPath unchanged and RouteToPathAlwaysTrailingSlash blindly appends /. Thus a default/never router infers /posts/all/ instead of the runtime route.to value /posts/all, while an always router infers /posts/all//, so previously valid <Link>/navigate calls fail type checking for the exact routes this change fixes. Normalize fullPath in those route-to helpers and add the corresponding link inference cases.

Fixed in d11ec37. never now strips the trailing slash and always adds exactly one, matching resolvePath. Added Link/navigate to cases for $lang/ and all/ under each mode in link.test-d.tsx.
Now that `fullPath` keeps a trailing slash for paths like `all/`, the route-to helpers must normalize it: `never` strips it, `always` adds exactly one, `preserve` allows both. This matches `resolvePath` and `route.to` at runtime. Also cover repeated slashes (`all//`) in the route id test. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Keep routesByPath keys aligned with runtime
When a code route is declared with a trailing slash (for example path: 'all/'), this makes its fullPath key '/posts/all/', so CodeRoutesByPath types router.routesByPath['/posts/all/'] as the route. processRouteTree, however, stores every entry under trimPathRight(route.fullPath), i.e. only '/posts/all'; the newly type-safe lookup therefore returns undefined at runtime, while the real key is rejected. Key the public map type the same way as the runtime and add an inference regression for this property.

Preserve parent navigation from trailing-slash routes
With a nested trailing-slash route under a default/never router, its newly preserved fullPath becomes '/posts/all/', while this normalization exposes the parent destination only as '/posts'. ResolveRelativePath<'/posts/all/', '..'> produces '/posts/', so the relative autocomplete excludes .. (and offers descendants such as ../all instead); consequently a route-bound navigate({ to: '..' }) or Link no longer type-checks even though runtime resolvePath navigates to /posts. Normalize the resolved parent before matching and cover the route-bound relative case.

Distribute the root-path exception over fullPath unions
If a route tree's only child chooses its path from a literal union containing / (for example path: flag ? '/' : 'foo'), that route's fullPath is '/' | '/foo'. The indexed-access condition here is not distributive, so it applies RemoveTrailingSlashes to the entire union; that helper turns the root member into '', and a default/never router then infers to as '' | '/foo' instead of '/' | '/foo' (with '' treated as . at runtime). Make the root exception distributive and add a union-path inference regression.

🎯 Changes
Why the change
createRoutetypes drop a trailing slash from the route path, sopath: '$lang/'typesidandfullPathas/$langwhile the runtime values are/$lang/.Special things to note
cleanPathon the joined path (collapses//). The type now does the same thing instead of trimming slashes on both sides.path: '/'and paths without a trailing slash type the same as before.fullPathcan now end in/for non-index paths, so the route-to helpers normalize it pertrailingSlashmode, the same wayresolvePathdoes.Change outline
