Can you create bookmarks in the TM editor?

Is it currently possible to create bookmarks in the TM editor? If not, may I request this feature to be considered for future development?

Expected Behavior

On large scripts (I have some that are > 1000 lines), I wish to create bookmarks to jump between locations in the script, a la Notepad++ and VSCode (via extensions).
Usually, clicking in the left-side gutter adds or removes a bookmark

Note: It also would be GREAT to be able to toggle a background/highlight on certain lines (to make them easy to find when scrolling up/down), like in the VSCode Extension "Numbered Bookmarks" by Alessandro Fragnani. Right now, when a line is clicked in the left gutter/margin, a pale highlight is added onto that line in the gutter, but when the Settings - Appearance - Layout is set to "Default - Darker", it is very very very faint - not very useful. If it was greenish-yellow, that would suffice. Perhaps the ability to change this background color?

As you can see, both these ideas relate to quickly locating certain lines of code in very long scripts. (You know how it is... you are working in 2 or 3 parts of the script, scrolling up/down between them, and you want to quickly find those locations).

You can use VScode to edit scripts live. Though this only works on chrome as far as I'm aware because...

1. Go to your chrome extension settings and turn on "Allow access to file URLs".
2. In the tampermonkey editor all you need is a blank script that requires the js file that contains your actual code.
3. You can use VScode to edit that js file.

Extra note: Once you can edit local files, this also opens up the ability to use build systems like webpack or whatever else you fancy. Minify your script. Split it into different files. Transpile from typescript. Go wild.

I just created a new extension that allows to edit the userscripts of Tampermonkey at vscode.dev (which is basically a VSCode online editor).

I know this does not fix Tampermonkey's internal editor, but it might help.
To test it you have to install TM BETA 4.19.6176+ and Tampermonkey Editors 1.0.1.

A click at "Tampermonkey Editors"' icon will take you to vscode.dev and a "folder" with all installed Tampermonkey scripts should be automatically opened.

Thanks very much Jan -- that is an incredible extension and works even better than expected. Much thanks for creating it.

There is only one problem with respect to this Issue: VSCode Online does not allow any of the Bookmark extensions, and from past/present Googling it appears that VSCode does not natively offer bookmarks. The code folding is excellent, the environment is true VSCode - but no bookmarks! If they could just get Alessandro Fragnani's two extensions to work, all would be right with the world.

Missing bookmarks in TM's editor are a daily PITA when working on my (meanwhile, the current dev version is bigger than the one at GL) ~500 lines script JANITOR.

The bottom line is just plain and simple that we should be able to edit our scripts ENTIRELY in our own editor of choice. Just make the userscripts be stored as plain .js files instead of in a browser DB. Honestly just unbelievable that the devs even chose to do that. Now I'm wasting my time figuring out how to read the Chrome extension's LevelDB and write to it with a filewatcher.

@cow1337killer3 Why are you overcomplicating things? Does enabling file access and requiring your local file not work for you?
