Helium: connect kernel not showing up

Hello ,

After installing the package I can just see the commands Helium:settings.

conda 4.0.1
OSX 10.15

The same issue, can not use Helium as can not either start / nor connect to the kernel.

Probably your Helium wasn't initialized correctly.

Thank you for your reaction. Indeed, there was a plugin 'zmq' missing as reported in the console. It was not automatically installed with Helium? Not sure of the origin of the problem. I've tried to install it manually, bot with pip to python modules and via S3 Package Control. So now I see the following in the console:

Yes, I had this error before.
You cannot install the package yourself since sublime uses its own python version that you cannot access. For me removing the package from package control, restarting, and installing it again solved the problem.

Removing, restarting ST3, and adding the package again didn't work for me. Will make more tests and add the result to this comment. Thank you for your help.

UPD1: same result in the "fresh install" of the ST3 on the same system.

I have the same issue, but only in ST4, in ST3 it works. A strange thing is, as you can see in the console output below, is that ST4 refers to ST3 directories for the packages. (What makes it stranger is that I installed ST4 before I installed ST3.) Both versions of ST indeed seem to share the packages, whenever I install a package in one, it is also installed in the other. In any case, my console output after opening ST4 is:

Same issue here – Sublime build 4107, macOS 10.14.5. Removing with package control, restarting sublime, and then reinstalling it with package control does not solve the issue; anything other than "Helium:Settings" and "Set syntax:Helium IPython" just does not show up.

ST 4 introduced a new version of python for the plugin library, which can lead to side effects having two versions of ST running on the same system with the same plugin directory. For debugging it would be interesting

• Did you switch from version 3 to 4 with the same plugin directory
• Do you use ST 3 and ST 4 on the same machine with the same plugin directory

I recently switched to ST4 using the same plugin directory, and then installed Helium. Now I have also tried :

1. reverting to a clean ST4 slate, and then installing helium. Still doesn't let me connect to kernel.
2. moving files from my ST3 plugin directory into the new ST4 plugin directory. Also doesn't work.

edit : forgot to add, I am only using ST4 now, after having upgraded from ST3 (via a prompt within ST3, if that is relevant)

Hello, i can fix this:
This file should contain either the text 3.3 or 3.8 to select the version of Python to use. If a file named .python-version is not present, or it contains any value other than 3.8, then Python 3.3 will be used. I create inside zip the file .python-version 3.3

Now you can extract the Helium package, and the extracted Helium directory should be in your Packages directory. In the Helium directory, there is a .python-version file. Edit that.

The "connect kernel" still don't show up after I changed the python version. Should we rebuild the Helium or just simply change the python version and leave it?

@jeffersonchen-tw do you still have this issue? Adding a .python-version file with the content 3.3 to the root dir of this repo solved it for me (also Sublime Text 4112, Linux).
