Software-Solaris

Software-Solaris is the embedded software community behind Solaris (UVigo Aerotech) - powering our avionics from sensor drivers to telemetry and reliable flight data systems.

Solaris_Insignia_ConFondo-01 Solaris is a student rocketry project at the University of Vigo, focused on designing, building, and flying experimental rockets.

This organization is where we develop the software that runs on our avionics hardware - built under real constraints: reliability, traceability, and validation on real boards.

Our stack

Embedded C ESP32 ESP-IDF FreeRTOS
Interfaces SPI I2C UART
Tools Git Docker VS%20Code

What we do

  • Build the flight software stack for the electronics subsystem
  • Maintain shared protocols and interfaces for subsystem communication (SPP)
  • Write drivers + HAL for sensors and buses (SPI / I2C / UART)
  • Support platform ports, dev tooling and workflows (ESP-IDF, CI, debugging)

🚀 Get started

Where to contribute

  • Good first issues: small improvements, refactors, docs, testing helpers
  • Drivers / HAL: sensors, buses, board bring-up
  • Protocol / telemetry: packet formats, logging, reliability features
  • Tooling: scripts, CI, build automation, devcontainers

How we work

  • Keep changes focused and testable
  • Prefer clean modular code over fast hacks
  • Test on real hardware when it matters
  • Use PRs for review and decisions

Community

We ship, test on real boards, break things, fix them, and document what we learned.
If you're curious, motivated, and like solving real embedded problems - welcome aboard!
