Due to http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7170169 there is no good way to use os.name alone to detect Windows 8. It returns "windows nt (unknown)". But using "windows nt" in combination with os.version "6.2" we can detect Windows 8.
