Minor wording suggestion: “race” and “ethnicity” are often overlapping in this context. To streamline the sentence and improve clarity, we could consider keeping just one (e.g., ethnicity) without changing the intent of the statement.

This part seems to overlpa from the diversity statement, 'Fostering an inclusive, equitable, and supportive research and learning environment'.

| 1. Clear structure and alignment — lectures, assignments, and assessments are designed to map directly to learning outcomes and use low-stakes checks and feedback to monitor progress. | ||
| 2. Application-driven, project-based learning — coursework ties abstract methods to real process systems, often through industry-framed case studies and semester-long team projects. | ||
| 3. Flexibility for diverse backgrounds — materials include optional refreshers and targeted exercises for varied preparation levels, plus advanced challenges for stronger students. |

From the diversity statement, This phrase overlaps with "“Accessible and equitable teaching… inclusive pedagogy and accessible materials…”.

I noticed some thematic overlap between the Diversity statement and the Teaching Statement, particularly around inclusion, mentoring, and accessibility. Since the DEI page already addresses group culture and values, it may help to further distinguish the Teaching Statement by emphasizing teaching as preparation for applying technical skills for broader human and societal benefit.
