DSH upload notifications #45

Description

@jeremyestein

Description

Only Jeremy is getting DSH upload notification emails. See comment below about how you would have to set up an outlook rule to forward this to the Slack channel.

Given the OpenTelemetry project, perhaps we want to ignore the email notifications and rely on the reporting through OTel which already exists in the exporter? The exporter currently reports success/failure (and upload times) to the project-level OTel collector. When the GAE-level OTel collector comes on-line, this should be easy to switch to. (Some dashboards will need configuring, etc)

Definition of Done

  • everyone has good visibility on whether uploads are succeeding or not (either through OTel or Slack email)
  • everyone can reset the uploader password when it expires (works via Slack #emap-dev)
  • everyone can access the uploader username/password for testing or deploying a prod system (LastPass)

Dependencies

OTel project

    Reply to DSH enquiry:

    We can't adjust the behaviour for individual upload accounts on the file transfer portal. What I'd recommend is zipping your content before upload to a single file reducing your alerts down to a single email, then you should create an email rule to distribute the received alert to what ever extra addresses you require like slack channels.

    I have asked a follow up question about how we change the initial recipient of the notification email.

    I've also written a Slab post about how to manage DSH uploader accounts.
