🔁 Steps to Reproduce

1. Setup

• OS: Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS
• VS Code: v1.101.2

2. Exact actions

• Open settings
• Create new configuration profile
• Select "OpenAI Compatible"
• Copy and paste a base URL that ends on a space (e.g.: https://chat.model.example.com/v1 )
• Open the model selection
• Observe: No models are listed

To "fix" it:

• Delete and re-add one character from the URL
• Open the model selection
• Now, models are listed

Hi! I'm here to help out the maintainers and am going to see if I can fix this issue. The problem seems to be that trailing spaces in the base URL are preventing model detection from working properly. I'll investigate and work on a fix!

I've created a pull request to fix this issue: #6560

The fix adds trimming to the base URL in the getOpenAiModels function, which prevents the model detection from failing when URLs have trailing spaces. I've also added comprehensive tests to ensure the fix works correctly for various scenarios.

The CI checks are currently running on the PR.
