@Rockywei1 Rockywei1 released this 20 Jul 15:36

This is a Hotfix Release (v5.4.8-2).

Changes since v5.4.8-1:

  • SciTE IDE Fix: Bundled the missing 32-bit lua5.1.dll internally for SciTE. The editor will no longer crash on startup.
  • Syntax Highlighting (Lua 5.4): Added Lua 5.4 keywords (like goto) and standard library functions (like utf8.*, math.tointeger, table.pack/unpack, warn) to the SciTE configuration. The editor now correctly highlights modern Lua syntax and provides accurate calltips/autocomplete.

(Note: The embedded SciTE debugger does not yet support Lua 5.4)

    • Pure Lua Modules: Penlight, dkjson, 30log, moses, date, LuaUnit, LuaLogging, copas.

🚀 LuaForWindows 5.4.2 (Lite Edition)

Welcome to the first modernized release of LuaForWindows in over a decade! 🎉

🔧 Core Upgrades

  • Upgraded the underlying engine from Lua 5.1 to Lua 5.4.2.
  • Cleaned up all legacy C-extensions (clibs) that were fundamentally incompatible with the 5.4 architecture.
  • Adapted and modernized the Inno Setup build scripts.

⚠️ Note on "Lite" Edition

To ensure system stability, this release ships as a "Lite" core-only edition. It includes the Lua 5.4 binary, standard libraries, and the SciTE editor. The sprawling ecosystem of third-party libraries (e.g., LuaSocket, LuaFileSystem) from the 2015 era have been temporarily removed until they can be individually re-compiled or updated for 5.4.
