Version 2.43.1 doesn't work with the old architecture even though it says it should (in some places)

It seems that 2.43.1 says it does support the old architecture in certain places: #347

When trying to run it on the old architecture on ios, it doesn't seem to work (using expo 53 and react-native 0.79.3) and throws an error that says it requires the new architecture.

While we've not explicitly removed all old architecture references in 2.43.1, we do not actively support it and encourage you to migrate to the new architecture.
