Update default Linux kernel to 6.12.x #9794

This is necessary for better hardware support for newer hardware. Especially all new NovaCustom laptops currently require choosing kernel-latest.
Linux 6.12 has been available for quite some time as kernel-latest already, and it seems all initial issues are fixed now.

Switch to stable-6.12 branch.

Better support for newer hardware.
Completion checklist
- create stable-6.12 branch, and name package as "kernel" there
- rename package in stable-6.6 branch to "kernel-66
