Improve introduction to Qubes in installer #1774
Comments
Would you say that the desired content is already on the website? Or are you saying that the content needs to be created? If it's already on the website, is your suggestion that it should be internally packaged with Qubes OS rather than instructing users to visit the website? |
@mfc: Please reply to my queries when you have a chance. |
currently no, I don't see us able to replicate any content from the website directly for this purpose, we'd have to adapt it. we can look at other OSes for example, this is the one for Ubuntu 16.10: https://youtu.be/k2QuximLog4?t=2m10s For Anaconda on Fedora, it looks like we can't have a full screen but instead a footer, at least judging from the Fedora 25 installation: https://youtu.be/wxNeB2L8BBM?t=4m41s So to clarify, I think this ticket should only focus on installation / firstboot, will the integrated tutorial ticket and the offline documentation ticket focusing on help once the user is in Qubes. |
@deeplow did you know this was an issue? |
Ah. I had not seen this one yet. If #1395 ends up being implemented it will also fix this one. |
But what about @mfc's comment #1774 (comment)? Specifically:
However, I have to confess that I don't really understand the distinction being made here, since "firstboot" just is the first time "the user is in Qubes," is it not? |
so help differentiate these tickets, i think this ticket should focus on the installer, not firstboot. it was the focus of the clips i found but i discussed both previously. i'll rename the ticket to clarify |
There should be a description of what Qubes is about, ideally with visuals (like the qube mock-ups @bnvk created). Some type of introduction / this is what you are getting into.
