Audio doesn't work on first install & Icon not showing up in Windows Volume Mixer

The app lets me connect with my mobile device and when tried to play a video/audio, i can see from my mobile that the audio streams via my pc but the audio isn't being outputted at all. @PolymorphicAgent

and i also tried again few times and found that the audio is being stream via my mobile device instead of my pc.
also when i adjusted the volume through my mobile, the indication shows the volume is being adjusted on the Bluetooth device but the volume level is actually changing in my mobile.

If I understand correctly: you're trying to stream audio from your PC to your phone? If so, then that's not supported yet. Volume and media controls are not implemented yet. Please keep in mind that I just finished the first working version of the app, so it only supports streaming phone audio to your PC. (for now) I'm working on implementing these features as we speak, but I don't expect to release them soon because I'm pretty busy with school.

Feature request: Support for streaming audio from PC to phone.

@PolymorphicAgent I’m describing about the audio stream from mobile phone to pc. and it doesn’t work. I think you misunderstood the context.
As I clear that I can connect my phone to pc via the app but the audio doesn’t stream using the pc speaker. Instead I’m hearing the audio from my phone even when it is connected to pc.

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding! In this case, here are some troubleshooting steps:

1. make sure your phone is paired with your PC in windows settings before attempting to run the app.
   I've tested with the apple music app so far, so I don't know if it works with other apps.
2. Wherever your Bluetooth selection menu is (i.e. where you'd choose to output audio to headphones), select the name of your PC, once connected. In the images below, the name of my PC is 'ZAPPER'.

If that doesn't work, then please send a screenshot from your phone of your music app with the bluetooth device menu open (like I sent), and we can go from there. (If need be, I can send you a debug build that will let me know exactly what went wrong)

i just found that the Phone Audio Link was muted as default. it works after toggling it on in volume mixer settings.

i'm confused what the "Bluetooth Error" device that came with the Phone Audio Link app? @PolymorphicAgent

As mentioned, since this is the first working version of the app, There are many bugs needing to be fixed. Keep a look out for updates pushed in the coming weeks!

I've looked into these bugs and have found the following:

1. On startup, the first connection is almost always a false positive - it says Connected but is not actually fully connected (yes, the Bluetooth connection is successful, but the AudioSink does not get opened)

   • I will look into this bug next. It should be easy to fix!

2. I am unable to reproduce the second bug you mentioned, where an app named `Bluetooth Error' appears in your volume mixer. In fact, I don't even get a device named my app...

Do you mind relaying the steps you performed to see that bug? (i.e. did you do that while the app was running, connected, streaming audio, paused, etc.) Before checking that, however, please ensure that your computer is updated to the latest version of windows as older versions can have effect on the API used to stream audio.

I tried to recreate the issue by re-installing the app but i didn't see the same "Bluetooth Error" app but the PhoneAudioLink icon is missing.
maybe can i able to get the debug build along the releases, so we can get the logs on future releases too. @PolymorphicAgent
also after this fresh re-install, i clicked the minimize button and the app crashed, which was a one time incident and i couldn't reproduce it again.
