MPAndroidChart 4.0.0 and a fresh start for the issue tracker #5525

Description

@PhilJay

MPAndroidChart 4.0.0 is out: a rewrite in Kotlin with a Jetpack Compose module, animated data changes, faster drawing of large data and extensive guides.

With this release the issue tracker gets a fresh start:

  • Issues that 4.0.0 fixes or implements are closed with a comment that points to the fix.
  • Issues older than five years are closed. Most of them are about the old Java API or old build tooling.
  • Newer issues were checked one by one against 4.0.0. The ones that still apply stay open.

If something you reported still happens with 4.0.0, please open a new issue with a short example against 4.0.0. That is the quickest way to get it looked at.

Still on 3.x? 3.2.0 is the last Java release, and the code lives on the 3.x branch. The migration guide covers the move to 4.0.

Thanks to everyone who reported bugs, answered questions and sent pull requests over the years.

    @PhilJay Congrats for the release!
    Any plans to expand to KMP + Compose Multiplatform?

    @Paget96

    So this means we gonna finally have a fully working and up to date chart solution for Android?
    Looking forward to new best practices and chart styles suit to latest design guidelines ^^
