Shadcn design system based widgets library

The problem

Currently, Perry provides not enough widgets for building a production ready app.

Proposed solution

Shadcn https://ui.shadcn.com/ has become a standard design system and comprehensive component library. It would be great If perry can provide similar built-in widgets set available for building production ready and beautiful apps.

Thanks for raising this — agreed that "production-ready" needs a real widget set, but I want to push back on the shadcn framing and then commit to the concrete gaps.

Why shadcn isn't the right north star here: shadcn is a web design system — Radix primitives + Tailwind CSS rendered through React/DOM. A lot of its value is solving problems that the OS already solves at the AppKit / UIKit level (Dialog → NSAlert, Popover → NSPopover, Tabs → NSTabView, Menu, Sheet, Toggle, Slider, DatePicker, Form, Toolbar, etc.). Perry's UI compiles to native widgets, so cloning shadcn's catalog would mean re-skinning OS primitives with Tailwind-ish defaults — which fights platform conventions and ends up looking un-native on every target.

That said, the underlying complaint is real. There are widgets that production apps lean on heavily and that aren't OS primitives, where every team currently rebuilds them from scratch. I went through the list and filed tracking issues for each:

If your motivating use case maps onto any of those, please drop a 👍 or a comment on the relevant one — that's what'll drive prioritization. And if there's a widget you need that isn't on the list, file it as a sibling issue and link it back here.

The four I'd build first based on how often they block real apps: data table, charts, combobox, toast.
