This is a request for an update to an existing icon.

A paintbrush makes little sense in this context. It seems like the Fountain Pen on the app's original icon may have gotten misrepresented as a paintbrush on the Papirus icon.

The application is a personal web (wiki) meant to be kept on one's own computer, not in the cloud.
So, ideally, the icon relays the idea of a personal (locally stored) web of data.

I started with gedit and web-browser then adapted the colors.
A pencil seems to be the right choice to imply "edit", not a pen. So, making that change makes sense.
Maybe a mechanical pencil look would hold the place between a pencil and a pen?

Mine is truly crappy, but does it give you a good idea where to start from?

Thx for info.We reproduce original icon. Maybe you ask on Zim devs why they use pen?

But you did not use a pen in your icon. You used a paintbrush. If you make yours look more like a pen, then you may have solved the problem.

From my original post in this thread:
"A paintbrush makes little sense in this context. It seems like the Fountain Pen on the app's original icon may have gotten misrepresented as a paintbrush on the Papirus icon."

Their icon is meant to be one of these:

When you reduced the detail but kept the curviness, you turned it into one of these:
