Referring to:
https://greengypsy-staging-openms.readthedocs.io/en/final-touches/docs/installations/installation-on-gnu-linux.html
I took a look at the page and wonder if we need to change the order of items.
e.g.,
- should we always first list the go-to binary installer?
- How does this page relate to: https://greengypsy-staging-openms.readthedocs.io/en/final-touches/docs/downloads.html ? I am not very fond of updating the SHAs everytime we do a release.
- same for Windows page: https://greengypsy-staging-openms.readthedocs.io/en/final-touches/docs/installations/installation-on-windows.html only mentions the directory to the past releases (which I think is fine but is in contrast to the download page)
- similar for macOS but here we also have conda + binary
And I wonder, given all those options: do we need to provide some guidance what user should install? e.g., if they want to do a nextflow workflow should we recommend conda?
And would we also mention the KNIME plugins here? e.g., it might easily happen that someone wants to use OpenMS through KNIME and just starts installing the binary installers.
Just throwing these questions in as it might influence user experience.
