Add Unit Tests

We should add unit tests to ensure the descriptor routines do the following:

1. Construct and CRC properly
2. Load from a previously formatted memory section correctly (such as RAM or file)
3. CRC fail/reject invalid descriptors
4. Ensure any version updates across format revisions are caught by the loader utilities
