Description

@rolfsimoes

Description:

We should include a concrete example demonstrating how to use the fcalc workflow with outputs from the InVEST Urban Flood Risk Mitigation (UFRM) model. This will help users understand how to apply the tool to real ecosystem service model outputs.

Tasks:

  • Add a Jupyter notebook under examples/ directory showing:

    • Loading UFRM output rasters (e.g., Runoff_retention_m3.tif)
    • Setting up baseline and intervention scenarios
    • Applying land-use specific conversion factors
    • Calculating monetary values and financial metrics
    • Visualizing results (maps, charts, summary tables)
  • Include a sample dataset or instructions for generating synthetic UFRM output

  • Document assumptions and limitations (e.g., synthetic valuation factors)

  • Link to the UFRM user guide in the notebook

  • Add a reference in README.md under the "Examples" section

Benefits:

  • Helps users understand practical application of the tool
  • Demonstrates compatibility with real-world ecosystem service models
  • Supports use cases related to flood risk mitigation and green infrastructure planning
