The main branch of nvim-treesitter doesn't work with Conjure

On May 24, 2025, nvim-treesitter announced that the master branch has been archived in favor of the main branch. fnl/conjure/tree-sitter.fnl tries to load the ts_utils module . It no longer exists in the main branch.

From the Neovim version 0.11 help on treesitter, one doesn't need to use the nvim-treesitter plugin because additional parsers can be manually installed when needed. So, I'm not sure how big an issue this is or if I'm totally clueless.

I can confirm the plugin doesn't work with the main branch of treesitter.

I can't really help because I don't know fennel but I did a little digging and here is what seems to be the problem:

• It seems that conjure uses deprecated fonctions, get_node_at_cursor is the one I found
• Like you said we don't need to require nvim-treesitter.ts_utils anymore and can directly use vim.treesitter.
• We can directly use vim.treesitter.get_node() instead of ts.get_node_at_cursor() which doesn't work anymore

Hi, thanks for the quick response!
I wasn't very clear when I said the plugin doesn't work it actually kinda works since we can eval stuff etc.. but since the treesitter stuff is broken it seems it's mainly the completion that doesn't work and when typing errors keep popping up.
I just wanted to clarify to not make it more of an issue than it seems.

One thing I noticed when using the main branch of nvim-treesitter is that you'll need to be explicit in configuring Neovim to use Tree-sitter for syntax highlighting. I found that I need to explicity enable it for Fennel files.

No longer using ts_utils and we're using vim.treesitter.get_node hopefully that's all we need and it's backwards compatible too? I think this is still fine with Neovim 0.10 but I'm unsure. I like to support stable and at least one version behind, we currently require 0.10 and above and I'd like to avoid forcing people to update to 0.11 for no real reason.

If anyone is still on 0.10 and has tree sitter issues now I'd love to hear about them!

HI, this work properly for me.
And like @russtoku said with the main branch of nvim-treesitter, treesitter is not automatically started, so I start it automatically with :

vim.api.nvim_create_autocmd("FileType", { 
	pattern = "*",                          
	callback = function(args)               
		pcall(vim.treesitter.start, args.buf) 
	end,                                    
})

For example if treesitter is not enabled for commonlisp and we try to use conjure with commonlisp errors will popup (Only when the PaterJason/cmp-conjure plugin is used).

I also tried it with nvim 0.10 and it seems to work.

nvim 0.10 works with the master branch of nvim-treesitter but not the main branch. c2403ba works when testing with the Python client and dev/python/sandbox.py.

Ran the tests for treesitter and treesitter-completions and both passed with nvim 0.10.

I did some manual checks around the completions with the updated treesitter API and it seems to work well as a drop in replacement. Thanks for updating that!

Yeah, to be clear, though, I haven't been able to get the nvim-treesitter main running on my machine yet. (I am having some issues unrelated to this code and more my nvim config). I'd hope the behavior for that function isn't any different or conjure would have to try and tease out what version is installed.
