I'm an author, speaker, consultant, and general loud-mouth on software development. I concentrate on designing enterprise software - looking at what makes a good design and what practices are needed to come up with good design. I've been a pioneer of various topics around object-oriented technology and agile methods, and written several books including "Refactoring", "NoSQL Distilled", and "Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture". Simon Wardley, based in the UK, is a Researcher for CSC’s Leading Edge Forum, a global research and advisory programme that explores new thinking and develops next practice roadmaps that address the major challenges at the intersection of business, IT and management. Simon’s focus is on the intersection of IT strategy and new technologies, and his most recently published research (December 2012), is entitled Beware of Geeks Bearing Gifts: Strategies for an Increasingly Open Economy. Simon has also recently covered topics including Learning from Web 2.0 and A Lifecycle Approach to Cloud Computing

From Canon’s early leadership in the cloud computing space in 2005, to Ubuntu’s recent dominance as the No 1 Cloud operating system. He is a passionate advocate and researcher in the fields of open source, commoditization, innovation, organizational structure and cybernetics.
As a geneticist with a love of mathematics and a fascination in economics, Simon has always found himself dealing with complex systems, whether it’s in behavioural patterns, environmental risks of chemical pollution, developing novel computer systems or managing companies. He is a passionate advocate and researcher in the fields of open source, commoditization, innovation, organizational structure and cybernetics.

Joe Weinman is responsible for leading Telx’s fast-growing cloud services business development and strategy. Named a “Top 10 Cloud Computing Leader” by TechTarget, Weinman is a frequent keynote speaker, blogger and the founder of Cloudonomics—a rigorous, multidisciplinary approach to valuing the cloud—and the author ofCloudonomics: The Business Value of Cloud Computing, available from booksellers worldwide in ebook and hardcover editions. He has been awarded 16 U.S. and international patents in diverse fields and has been showcased in numerous global broadcasts, print and online publications. He has a Bachelors and Masters in Computer Science from Cornell University and UW-Madison respectively, and has completed Executive Education at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne.
Dr. Werner Vogels is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Amazon where he is responsible for driving the company's technology vision, which is to continuously enhance the innovation on behalf of Amazon's customers at a global scale.
Prior to joining Amazon, he worked as a research scientist at Cornell University where he was a principal investigator in several research projects that target the scalability and robustness of mission-critical enterprise computing systems. He has held positions of VP of Technology and CTO in companies that handled the transition of academic technology into industry.
Vogels holds a Ph.D. from the Free University in Amsterdam and has authored many articles for journals and conferences, most of them on distributed systems technologies for enterprise computing.
