Enable automatic updates

Summary

The section at the end of this page describes how to enable or disable automatic updates in System Manager and CLI, but the customer reported the following issue:
https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/update/enable-automatic-updates-task.html
System Manager – ONTAP 9.16.1 and later | System Manager – ONTAP 9.15.1 and earlier | CLI

Even when they set Automatic Update to disabled in System Manager, the CLI still shows true:
::> system service-processor image show -fields autoupdate
node image autoupdate

NOS-a primary true
NOS-a backup true
NOS-b primary true
NOS-b backup true
4 entries were displayed.

I tested this in the lab and found the following two issues:

  1. System Manager version information appears incorrect regarding where to configure this setting in different ONTAP versions.
For example, in ONTAP 9.13, the Automatic Update setting is still located on the Cluster page, not as described in the guide above of Event tab.
Please help verify this and correct the documentation if needed.

  2. System Manager settings are not synchronized with CLI (SP) settings.
Please confirm if the CLI command is correct. It seems to apply only to Service Processor (SP) , but this setting not the same as BMC/SP which managed by System Manager.
If this interpretation is correct, please clarify the difference between:

  • The CLI command settings
  • System Manager BMC/SP settings
