If we comment out all the calls to set push pop the fullscreenviewport and simple observe what the values of oldW and oldH are, after changing the resolution with mat_setvideomode x y 1 we can see that the oldW and oldH values are updated correctly to the new resolution, so this solution is more of a workaround and we are still doing something wrong here
