Too much blood getting into the contacts

This doesn't happen very often.
But, it has been observed when there is too much blood and it gets into the contacts, it could interfere with the accuracy of the sensor. The readings become consistently low. If you experience consistent low readings that are not real, you can follow the instructions below:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the instructions for removing the transmitter from the sensor.
  2. Have rubbing alcohol and some Q-tips ready. There is dielectric grease inside the sensor on the contacts. Ideally, you won't need to touch anything. You should leave everything alone and reinsert the transmitter back if there is no blood to avoid wiping off the dielectric grease. However, if there is so much blood and it has got between the contacts, we are beyond worrying about the dielectric grease.
  3. Monitor the system status page. Pay attention to the "Last Connected" line.
  4. A few seconds after last connected updates, remove the transmitter.
  5. Only if there is too much blood, use Q-tips and rubbing alcohol to clean it.
  6. Wait a few seconds for the alcohol to evaporate. Insert the transmitter back in. As long as you complete these tasks before the next read cycle (5 minutes), the transmitter will never know that you removed it and there will be no interruption with the session in progress.
