WordOfTheDay is written in Ruby, uses Nokogiri and Open-Uri to implement a CLI, that provides the word of the day via Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day website. After receiving the word of the day, the user can make choices from the command line to display associated information.
WordofTheDay is currently an unpublished gem. Once published, follow the "gem installation" instructions below.
clone
the repository, cd
into the projects directory, and run ruby bin/word_of_the_day
Add this line to your application's Gemfile:
gem 'word_of_the_day'
And then execute:
$ bundle
Or install it yourself as:
$ gem install word_of_the_day
After checking out the repo, run bin/setup
to install dependencies. You can also run bin/console
for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install
. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb
, and then run bundle exec rake release
, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem
file to rubygems.org.
