Hmm - I am not sure whether that use-case is covered yet by tsocks at all. It may require digging in and implementing a solution.
In principle, it should be possible to have both variants of the library installed and set up LD_PRELOAD in such a way that it uses the correct one for each executable. (See for example https://www.redhat.com/archives/rhl-devel-list/2006-June/msg00741.html)
How to achieve this, I do not know - I have not touched tsocks in years and have no intention spending time on it.
