Non-Nexus repository download handling

This is a cross-posted feature request from TanninOne#921.

I host my mods on GitHub:

• http://fireundubh.github.io/skyrim/
• http://fireundubh.github.io/fallout4/

I'd like to use "Download with Manager" buttons which when clicked would download mods from GitHub with MO just as easily as they're downloaded from the Nexus. I'd imagine this would involve some changes to nxm:// handling, or a new mod:// protocol that MO would recognize.

This could be generalized to handle mod downloads anywhere on the web, and in addition to the "Install a new mod from an archive" button on the toolbar, you'd also have a "Install a new mod from a URL" button.

For GitHub, specifically, you could probably use SVN or GitZip. In that case, my "Download with Manager" buttons would link to folders, and MO would download those folders as ZIP archives.

Just an idea like that but such a feature might take time to plan and code. Especially since this would be a complicated and protocol specific option.
While waiting for this to be coded you could have a "download link" button on MO toolbar that would work that way:
1 - On any browser right click on the download link and the select the option to copy the link
2 - Swith to MO click the button.
3 - Parse the clipboard contents for a valid url:
3.1 Empty or invalid: Open a popup with the content of the clipboard if it's text.
(Maybe give the possibility to enter one url per line as several urls)
Correct or enter an url and goto 4
3.2 Correct url, goto 4
4 Try to download and check the file.
4.1 The file is not recognized as a known archive (or maybe as a recognized mod file) reject the download
4.2 If the file is a recognized archive or mod file (7z rar zip fomod esp etc...) start the download (or add to a "pending download" tab where you could review the files remove the unwanted links and launch one or several downloads)

This would be a more compatible way that would be a lot more more generic than using a specific protocol even though it would require more click from the user in the save to clipoard method.

Or you could do like jdownloader and check the clipboard periodically (although that might be a hit on performances so I don't know if it's actually a good idea)
