Description
Mindtrace Agents — Vision Board
This issue tracks the long-term vision, design direction, and product aspirations for Agentic capabilities within Mindtrace.
Core Vision
Most major research labs and industry leaders are investing in building generic agent frameworks that integrate within their ecosystems. The emphasis is largely on creating platforms capable of onboarding agent capabilities. However, production-ready, specialised agents—such as machine learning agents or computer-vision assistive agents—are still not readily available. The real business value can lie in developing agents tailored to specific industries or domains, such as automotive manufacturing and industrial systems.
Mindtrace could benefit by embedding assistive agents that automate different industrial workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve decision-making. These agents should be:
- Easy to find and understand (discoverable)
- Secure and safe to run (permissioned and auditable)
- Reliable and predictable in how they behave
- Easy to observe and debug (clear logs and reasoning visibility)
Technical Pillars
Basic Design Questions
To support the core vision of designing assistive agent workflows within Mindtrace, the following foundational design questions must be addressed:
-
Agent Discovery
- How can Mindtrace clients discover the available agents and agent workflows?
-
Agent Creation
- How can clients easily create new agent workflows?
-
Tooling Ecosystem
-
How can Mindtrace define and ship generic utility tools?
-
How can clients discover these Mindtrace-provided tools?
-
-
Visibility & Access Control
- How do we support private vs. public agents and tools?
-
Configuration Flexibility
- How can agent workflows be configured with different:
- model providers
- models
- tools
- prompts
- memory systems
- state management strategies
- How can agent workflows be configured with different:
-
Deployment Model
- How can interactable agents be deployed (CLI, API, service mode, etc.)?
-
CLI Experience
- How should Mindtrace expose agents via CLI commands?
-
UI Integration
- What should UI interaction with agents and workflows look like?
-
Tool Invocation Reliability
- How do we ensure an agent correctly invokes tools during execution?
-
Observability
- How can we make agent workflows observable—logs, traces, metrics, reasoning steps?
-
Multi-Agent Coordination
- How can multiple agents work together as part of a single coordinated workflow?
