Configuration of SaveState should be saved in the same folder as the executable

Right now the configuration is saved in ~/.local/share/SaveState/
For a tool like this it would make sense to save the config either also in the defined folder for the save game backups, or in the same folder as the executable.

Absolutely not and I'll explain why, in the very first versions it was like that but I thought the program to be "thrown on the desktop" as if it were an icon, mainly I was inspired by one of the programs that I use every day for years "geek unistaller".
so to be clearer, I don't want the packaged version of the program to create "garbage" because in case it is thrown on the desktop without its own folder and therefore the connection would be a problem to create garbage files or even folders on the end user's desktop,

At least the game_save_profiles.json should be in the selected save folder for the backups, that you don't need to re-make profiles for every game when your PC explodes

Since I just had to do it and I saved my game_save_profiles.json to do so: What's the intended way to restore a backup after a PC crash and the configuration is gone?

I'm already working on solving this problem, in the next version a complete system will be implemented to restore backups even if the program's configuration .json files have been lost, but I have to fix some things in the UI and a break so I decided that it will be implemented in 1.4.5
