Snapora provides a simple way to take screenshots and record your computer screen. It replaces paid tools with a free, open-source alternative. You can mark up images with arrows, boxes, and text after you take them. Use this tool to improve your workflow and communicate ideas clearly.
Follow these steps to put the software on your computer:
- Visit the official releases page.
- Look for the section labeled Latest.
- Find the file that ends with .exe for Windows.
- Click the file name to start your download.
- Wait for the download to finish.
Snapora works on most modern Windows systems. Ensure your machine runs Windows 10 or Windows 11. You need at least 200 megabytes of free space on your hard drive to hold the program. The software performs best with 4 gigabytes of memory or more.
Follow these steps to install the app:
- Open your Downloads folder.
- Locate the file you just saved.
- Double-click the file to open the installer.
- Follow the prompts on the screen.
- Click finish when the process ends.
- Find the icon on your desktop to launch the app.
Snapora stays quiet in your system tray until you need it. When you want to capture an image, press the shortcut key. By default, this is the Print Screen key on your keyboard. Your screen will dim. Use your mouse to draw a box around the area you want to capture.
Once you release the mouse button, the app saves the image. You can copy the image to your clipboard or save it as a file on your computer.
The annotation window opens automatically after you capture a screenshot. Use the toolbar at the top to modify your images:
- Arrow tool: Click and drag to point at items.
- Box tool: Highlight specific areas with a border.
- Text tool: Add notes directly to your image.
- Blur tool: Hide private or sensitive details such as emails or passwords.
- Color picker: Pick colors to match your brand or style.
Click the checkmark button when you finish your changes to save your work.
Capture video by selecting the video icon in the menu. Choose between recording the full screen or a selected region. Click the red button to start recording. A timer appears at the bottom of the screen.
Stop the recording by clicking the stop button in the toolbar. Save the file as an MP4 video. This format works on all modern video players and browsers. Share these clips to provide instructions or show bugs to your team.
Open the settings menu from the tray icon to change how the app works. You can update your hotkeys to match your muscle memory. Change the default folder where the app saves your files. Enable or disable sounds that play after a screen capture. Adjust the file format settings if you prefer .png or .jpg files.
Snapora respects your privacy. All your files stay on your computer. The app does not send your images or videos to a server. You keep full control over your data. Because this is open-source software, you can view the code to see how it handles your information at any time.
If you run into issues, try these steps:
- Restart the app. Often, this clears temporary glitches.
- Check that Windows is up to date.
- Ensure no other screen recording software is running at the same time.
- If the issue remains, check the issues tab on the GitHub repository page.
Other users may have found a solution for your problem. If you do not see a solution, start a new conversation on the repository page. Provide the version number of the app and a description of what happens on your screen.
This project grows through community support. If you want to contribute, share the tool with your friends. If you find a bug, report it on our page. Clear reports help developers fix problems for everyone. You provide value by simply testing the app and giving honest feedback.
The software uses the Electron framework. This allows it to run across different platforms while maintaining a consistent design. The user interface uses React to keep things fast and responsive. We use TypeScript to prevent errors during the building process. The modular design makes it easy to add new features in the future. We welcome all interest in the technical side of the project.
