This is the website for the Computational Statistics & Machine Learning (CSML) reading group at Lancaster University.
The site is built with Jekyll and hosted on GitHub Pages.
All talks are stored in _data/talks.yml. To add a new talk, add an entry at the top of the file:

You can upload a PDF to the pdf/ folder and link it:

Ruby (version 2.7 or higher) — Installation guide
- Windows: Use RubyInstaller
- macOS:
brew install ruby - Linux:
sudo apt install ruby-full(Debian/Ubuntu)

Bundler — Install with:
gem install bundler -
Python Environment (for Word Cloud generation)
The site uses a Python script to generate the word cloud. You need to set up a virtual environment:
# Create virtual environment python3 -m venv .venv # Install dependencies .venv/bin/pip install wordcloud pyyaml
# Install dependencies (first time only)
bundle install
# Start the development server
bundle exec jekyll serveThe site will be available at http://localhost:4000.
The server will auto-rebuild when you make changes. Press Ctrl+C to stop.
Just push to the main branch - GitHub Pages will automatically rebuild the site.
