IP maintains a detailed whole-drawer inventory of its stratigraphic collections. This data could be associated with other drawer-level data in EMu if a tab existed for this purpose.

IP requests the addition of a new tab during the next EMu upgrade.

Inventory Tab mock up v1

• Localities: Table for attaching records from Sites module. Space allowing, there should be 2-4 rows visible.
• Lots: Could the # Cataloged Lots field dynamically display a sum of the number of cataloged lots associated with that Location record in EMu?
• Lots: These fields could be made much narrower to accommodate the Taxonomic Composition table at right. They only need to be wide enough to accommodate numeric values with 4 digits.
• Taxonomic Composition: This table should function similarly to Project Statistics in the Projects module. Ideally, it would be pre-populated on each record to include a static list of values in the Taxon column (we could import after the tab has been created), as well as display a sum of the values in the % column at the bottom of the table, which should add to 100.

The original mock-up has been substantially modified to accommodate greater flexibility in data capture. The request is now for two tabs to be added to the Locations module: 1) an IP Inventory (1) tab, to attach Sites records, and 2) an IP Inventory (2) tab, to accommodate drawer-level inventory data.

Table to display attached Sites records with the following summary line:

• SitSiteNumber ; LocCountry_tab ; LocProvinceStateTerritory_tab ; LocCountyDistrictShire_tab ; LocTownship_tab ; IPLithoFormation.

• Example: LACMIP 4794; United States; California; Los Angeles County; Los Angeles; Timms Point Silt.

This tab will function similarly to the Projects module: Statistics tab. It will be set up with default row labels. _Statistic_, _Taxon_, and _Comments_ should accommodate text values (0-100 characters); _Value_ should accommodate integer values (0-6 characters).

Feedback from Bill:

Regarding the IP Inventory (1) tab:

• A corresponding field will need to be added to the Sites module, similar to the Locations tab that appears in the Catalogue module. This tab may be called something more generic, like "Sites" or "Locations" so it can be used by other departments.
• The "Locations" label at the top is unnecessary.

Regarding the IP Inventory (2) tab:

• Row labels can be locked and make use of lookup lists.

After much debate and discussion, it has been decided that this tab will be implemented in the Catalogue module rather than the Locations module.

For the new inventory-style records (IP Inventory tab) in the Catalogue module:

If Record Type = "inventory", then the Barcode from the attached Current Location is inserted into Inventory No. (aka, Catalog Number). Also, if Record Type = "inventory", tab-switching will hide most other tabs.

If Record Type = "catalog", then the normal IP cataloging procedure commences. Also, if Record Type = "catalog", tab-switching will hide the Inventory tab.

It doesn't matter which tab you are on, Invert Paleo or IP Inventory, when you change the Record Type to either term, the tab-switching occurs.

Bill will ask Axiell whether duplicate attachments can be prevented in the new Locality attachment table.

Both the Inventory Statistics & Taxonomic Statistics will be configured as such:

• Statistic - Text values + 100 character limit
• Value - Text values + 200 character limit

Issue #60 illustrates the corresponding changes to be made to the Invert. Paleo. tab. (Record Type = "catalog").

Notes for once the upgrade is complete:

• Accessing the inventory-style records won't require switching EMu groups.
• EMu users who are not in the staff-only Invertebrate Paleontology group will not have permission to view/modify inventory-type records. Rather, for volunteer access, we'll request a separate "IP Inventory" group for that purpose rather than enable it for the existing "IP Cataloging" group (to be requested post-upgrade).
• An error can be forced such that there's a one-to-one match between Barcode values on the inventory-type Catalogue records and Locations records, and that the barcode value essentially becomes the catalog number for inventory-type records.
