Professionally, I am a technical writer with a background in quality assurance. I'm also an experienced Atlassian admin (my portfolio is built using a pubic-facing Confluence space).
I'm also a lifelong artist. I primarily do fantasy art and a lot of fan art.
What's with the gargoyles?
I love gargoyles for everything they represent: vigilance, protection, loyalty, stewardship.
These are my core values, including when it comes to technical writing. Technical writing is so much more than writing docs. We're editors, curators, guides, and guardians. Just like gargoyles protect their buildings from erosion (and hostile intruders), technical writers prevent knowledge from eroding.
The gargoyles didn't build the cathedrals and spires they call home, but they're an essential part of them nonetheless. Their job often goes unnoticed: watching over their domain and maintaining the structure that keeps everything standing. They are often misunderstood and their value is easily taken for granted until the consequences of their absence manifest.
Like gargoyles, technical writers are usually overlooked or misunderstood. Nevertheless we persist and we help information endure.
