[BUG] Uncommitted text is overwritten after switching apps #620

Description

Describe the bug

When switching between apps with uncommitted text with some apps the text remains highlighted but continuing to type causes the previously uncommitted text to be erased/overwritten.
I first encountered the bug when switching in and out of the Deepl app but also reproduced it with a few other apps.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Start typing into a text input field in an app (e.g. Deepl)
  2. Switch apps using system navigation (e.g. home button)
  3. Return to the app
  4. Continue typing - previously typed but uncommitted text gets erased and overwritten.

Expected behavior

I would expect that the previously uncommitted text would continue to be added to like normal or committed immediately once the app receives focus (which is how it behaves with some apps e.g. Telegram)

Smartphone

  • Device: Google Pixel 5
  • OS: Android 16 (iodé OS 7.1)
  • App Version: Version name 1.5.8, Version code 682
