Random Fatal Python error with Python 3.x

Fatal Python error: no mem for sys.argv
ValueError: character U+ffffff00 is not in range [U+0000; U+10ffff]
[1]    11996 abort (core dumped)  julia

It happened randomly. Seems like occured when using @pyimport.

OS: ArchLinux
Julia: latest, Commit makepkg/2200bd3 2013-08-09 00:03:02 UTC
PyCall, PyPlot: latest
Python: 3.3

Weird, I've never seen that error before. I'm guessing happens during pyinitialize, perhaps during the call to PySys_SetArgvEx, and is PyCall problem rather than a PyPlot problem.

BTW, the Python version is 3.3

If I change the Python version to 2.x, the errors are gone and everthing works perfect.

Ah, I see. I don't have matplotlib etcetera installed for Python 3.x (most scientific/technical users seem to be with 2.7 still), so it will be a while before I can test this, but I need to get around to it at some point (also for JuliaPy/PyCall.jl#24).

On archlinux, /usr/bin/python is a symlink to python3. I would suggest to explicitely initialize for python2, by adding a call to

pyinitialize("python2")

in PyPlot.jl, until the code is fixed for python 3.

python2 doesn't exist on all systems (e.g. MacOS doesn't have Python installed under that name).
