Installation and Setup

Using JDiskMark

  • Simply execute the jar file (e.g., java -jar jdiskmark.jar) to launch JDiskMark.
  • Dropping Disk Cache
    • running with elevated privileges will allow jdiskmark to automatically clear the disk cache during a read and write benchmark.
    • clearing cache manually:
      • Windows: Run EmptyStandbyList.exe or RAMMap64.exe to invalidate the disk cache and ensure accurate benchmark results.
      • Linux/macOS: Use the appropriate command (sudo sh -c "sync; 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches" for Linux: sudo sh -c "sync; purge" for macOS) to manually clear disk cache before running tests, ensuring accurate results.
  • Please see the user manual for an overview of how to use.
