Different names, same physical chip in package.
MFF2 is the Telecom application name of the DFN8/VQFN8 package.
DFN8/VQFN8 is the Industrial application name for packages having 8 contacts on 2 opposite sides (Dual).
DFN8 vs VQFN: VQFN is the IFX naming with very thin package.
- MFF2 is specified by ETSI TS102671
- DFN/VQFN is specified by JEDEC standard
WARNING: MFF2 vs DFN/VQFN have different contact numbering conventions:
Pin Number |
Contact Number(TS 102 671) | Contact Name(as per TS102671) |
---|---|---|
Pin 8 | C1 | Vcc |
Pin 7 | C2 | RST |
Pin 6 | C3 | CLK |
Pin 5 | C4 | Not Connected |
Pin 1 | C5 | Vss - GND |
Pin 2 | C6 | SWIO |
Pin 3 | C7 | I/O |
Pin 4 | C8 | Not Connected |
MFF2 pinout indexing specified in ETSI TS102671 (see upper table, middle row) is not complying to the JEDEC standard.
This is creates confusion.
Consequently the correct pinout is:
Pin Number |
Contact Name |
---|---|
Pin 1 | GND |
Pin 2 | SWIO |
Pin 3 | IO0 |
Pin 4 | Not |
Pin 5 | Not |
Pin 6 | CLK |
Pin 7 | RST |
Pin 8 | Vcc |
