User style for YouTube
This user.css file allows you to change the number of videos displayed per row in YouTube's video grid. By modifying the content width, you can increase the number of videos shown in each row, providing a more compact and efficient viewing experience.
Example on a Full HD Display:
Example on a 4K Display:
-
Download the user.css file:
- Clone the repository or download the file directly from the GitHub page.
- Alternatively, you can install it directly if you use the Stylus extension: Install resize-youtube-grid.user.css
-
Apply the user.css file:
- Use a browser extension like Stylus or User CSS to apply the user.css file to YouTube.
- Follow the instructions provided by your chosen extension to add and enable the custom CSS.
- After applying the user.css file, the number of videos displayed per row in YouTube's video grid will increase. This allows you to see more videos at once without needing to scroll as much.
Please note the following limitations when applying this style:
-
Inconsistent Number of Videos per Row: The number of videos per row may become inconsistent, especially in rows preceding shorts videos or in the last row before new videos load.
-
Ghost Cards Disabled: Placeholder cards (ghost cards) that appear when loading new videos are hidden; only the loading spinner is shown.
-
Variable Content Size: The size of video content varies between the set Width and Max Width values.
The default settings in this user.css file are designed to change the number of videos displayed per row in YouTube’s grid view. Additionally, there are other customization options that I personally use, which are disabled by default. You can enable these settings by simply checking the respective checkboxes:
- Disable Shelf (e.g., Shorts, News sections)
- Channel Icon Size
- Roundness (for UI elements)
- Channel Page Grid (custom grid layout on channel pages)
- Player Roundness (degree of roundness of the video player)
- Button Before Subscription (changes the color of the button displayed before subscribing)
- Watch Page Description (customizes the description section on the watch page)
Enable these options as needed.
