Change internal port from 80

I would like to run this container using a non root user, but I can't find a way to change the port that the application runs on inside the container, is there a way to make this a setting?

Hi, I have not created an easily accessible variable for this use case, it is true it can create issue for non-root users since the hard-coded port is < 1024.

Before I implement a solution, you can:

1. Copy/Clone this repo (I think you already did it).
2. Edit docker-compose.yml, change this line:

   lwt-docker-installer/docker-compose.yml

   Line 12 in 7966833

   - "${WEB_PORT}:80"

   by replacing 80 by the port you want
3. Save, and start the container (docker compose up -d)

I think this line is only for changing the mapping between the host port to the container port, the application will still run on port 80 since it is hard coded somewhere.

I think I understand your issue.

Unfortunately, what you want needs to edit the Apache configuration, which is outside the scope of LWT. You need to create a new Apache site. You have two main options for that:

Option 1: Add Apache config to the Dockerfile

Create a custom Apache config or add these lines to your Dockerfile:

# Change Apache to listen on port 8080 instead of 80
RUN sed -i 's/Listen 80/Listen 8080/' /etc/apache2/ports.conf && \
      sed -i 's/:80/:8080/' /etc/apache2/sites-available/000-default.conf

# Optionally run as non-root user
RUN chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html
USER www-data

EXPOSE 8080

Then update docker-compose.yml:

ports:
  - "8010:8080"

Option 2: Create a custom Apache ports config

Create a file docker/ports.conf:

Listen 8080

Then in Dockerfile, add:

COPY docker/ports.conf /etc/apache2/ports.conf
RUN sed -i 's/:80/:8080/' /etc/apache2/sites-available/000-default.conf
EXPOSE 8080

That should work, but it quite complex, so I don't recommend it unless you are familiar with Apache.
