Non-deterministic issues generating author pages (race condition?)

Hi,

I have a site with a few tens of use profiles:

When I generate the page with the hugo command, I end up with some profiles that miss the bio text. This is a random behaviour. Re-running hugo without changing any of the source files leads to different profiles being affected. Pre-viewing the site with hugo server never leads to seeing such empty bios though. This leads me to think it may be a race condition of some sort but I wouldn't know where to start debugging this sort of issues with hugo.

I searched through the forum here but the only post I found that may be related was this one #2360 which didn't really help me.

For the record, I am running with

go version go1.19.1 darwin/amd64
hugo v0.102.3+extended darwin/amd64 BuildDate=unknown
github.com/wowchemy/wowchemy-hugo-themes/modules/wowchemy/v5 v5.6.0

I have seen this issue appearing several months ago (but I'm not sure when it startted) and I have observed it with different earlier versions of hugo and wowchemy.

Any insight or workaround would be appreciated! I am currently eyeballing each profile individually and manually revert to the older version of any affected profile before pushing the changes live which is a bit tedious.

Is there a way to try running hugo with a single thread? Or maybe ask it to regenerate only specific pages?

For the record, I am now calling hugo with a single thread throught the HUGO_NUMWORKERMULTIPLIER environment variable and it circumvents the issue:

HUGO_NUMWORKERMULTIPLIER=1 hugo
