Display content in two columns

In my custom widget I would like to display two columns in a single row. So I wrote:

<div class="row, row-cols-2">
<div class="col"> Column 1.
<div class="col"> Column 2.
</div>

Unfortunately these columns are not on the same line. "Column 1" is displayed directly above "Column 2".
Column 1.
Column 2.

Those columns should appear in a single row:
Column 1. <lots of spaces here> Column 2.

How can I fix this? Any suggestions?

You need a container.

Try this:

<div class="container">
  <div class="row justify-content-between">
    <div class="col">
      Column 1
    </div>
    <div class="col">
      Column 2
    </div>
  </div>
</div>
