v1.0

I know that I originally wrote that I’d want this release to be something where I’m 100% happy with everything but that’s just not possible. It hurts to be a perfectionist. It has also been long due to have another release of any kind and since many people are already receiving the game, it makes sense to push into a basically feature-complete release at this point.

Changelog:
-It’s… probably pretty clear how much has changed when you open the new file.

-Sections now have notice boxes for important rules and exceptions.

-Many new high quality graphical assets either ripped from various sources or scanned from a physical copy of the game.

-Multiple proof readings done by various people, attempts to Capitalize most game-related terms in a consistent manner. Changed the voice of the text to command “you” 90% of the time to make it more direct and consistent.

-All map location types are now actually pictured and named.

-Added many people to the credits. I think everyone from this thread is there now? If you feel that you’ve contributed (by messaging me, commenting somewhere etc. etc.) and your name isn’t there please let me know. I’ll stop manually gathering names for the list now since it probably never was such a good idea to try and get absolutely every contributor’s name there. Still, I’m doing my best at honoring those who have shown their interest in this!

-A component list for all expansions is a sub-file found in the repository. I think there’s some mistakes there, we’ll fix them.

-Much backend magic done on the GitHub repository.

What’s still missing:
-Big battlefield isn’t mentioned at all. Describing its rules should be its own file, I think. The expansion itself could be name-dropped however.

-A brief card clarification/FAQ section to mention at least Diplomacy and Pit Lords since both cards have hidden attributes in their abilities that aren’t written on the cards themselves. Maybe the “attacking a wall/gate” box could be moved here as well since that information is currently missing because I couldn’t fit it into the citadel combat section? The dream would be to have scans of all cards and a separate FAQ for them all.

Changelog:

-GitHub repository created for version control, preservation and better collaborative workflow.

-A mountain of work to turn basically all assets into high quality, transparent equivalents.

-Many, many improvements to overall text layout, formatting, fixing mistakes, clarifying rules, etc.

Todo (that I can remember right now):

-Consistent capitalization/bold/italics text.

-Actually start adding those examples of playing the game.

-Fish for some rule clarifications that are still unclear to me (losing combat against neutrals for instance).

-Clarify/add some of the missing expansion content such as fully explaining random towns and at least mentioning big battlefield.

v0.2

Changelog:

-So much stuff I really can't remember to list it all.

-Ditched Word permanently. This version was built using LaTeX.

-Rebuilding everything in a different program was slow at first but it will be way faster now to change and add things. Most sections are referenced by hyperlinks now.

-Applied all suggestions and corrections I've received so far as well as I could. Pruned a huge amount of unnecessary text. Tried to explain most rules in only one place and then referencing that place. As I've said before, this provides me such great insight into how bloody difficult it is to write good rules without any holes. I still get the itch to over explain some specific situations but those are better reserved for FAQs.

-A specific change I just remembered: I completely omitted the phrase "deck of might and magic" because I was just sick of seeing it mentioned so many times. I know some cards in the game itself do reference it, but I just replaced it with "[your] [hero's] deck" to improve the text's flow.

-Added some picture examples and meta text. I still haven't rewritten the official examples or any equivalents, this will come in the next upload here.

-Also removed some pictures that I couldn't be bothered to place back (yet?). The treasure die results table for example isn't anywhere.

-Added expansion and location sections to the end. These were hastily written because I'm 1) very tired from working on this 2) we can't get all the specifics on all the expansion content yet because nobody has them.
