Copy / Paste Broken on Android 10

Environment

• OS: Windows 10
• scrcpy version: v1.16
• installation method: Windows release
• device model: Samsung Galaxy S9
• Android version: 10

Problem
Unable to copy content from desktop to phone. Clipboard not syncing and paste (alt+v / ctl+v) not working. Last worked in v1.14. Issues #1658 and #1668 did not seem relevant. Text injection however (alt+shift+v) does work.

When you press Alt+v, Device clipboard set is printed in the console. What happens if you long-press and click Paste on the device after that?

Please try to paste into another application, just to be sure it's not a problem specific to this app on Android.

Another test: copy some text from the device, and paste it somewhere else with Ctrl+v on the device. Does it work?

Yet another test: once Device clipboard set is printed in the console, open a new terminal and execute adb shell input keyevent PASTE. Does it paste?

Long click > Paste on the device does nothing (does not show up in device clipboard either)

OK so it seems setting the device clipboard is ok from the ClipboardManager (it returns true), but without actually working.

Could you check the ouput of adb logcat?

The Galaxy has a neat built in clipboard app

It seems setting the clipboard is correctly requested by scrcpy and at least some work is done by the system to set it, since access is denied to some other apps. So if the device clipboard is not set after Device clipboard set, I would say that this is either a bug in the device ROM, either a (silent) error due to some permission error. 😕

Ctrl+Shift+V does not work in 1.14, it behaves just like alt+v in v1.16

Yes it is. I considered mentioning this initially but did not think it would be relevant as everything else works fine on the phone.

I am running a "debloated" version of the OEM ROM with only junk apps removed. No modifications to the core code.

Try to do the same without root access, it should work (maybe adb unroot is sufficient).
