🌀️ Get City ID via OpenWeatherMap Search

The simplest way to obtain a unique city ID for a single location is to use the official website's search function.

πŸ“ Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to the OpenWeatherMap Find City page. Or directly to https://old.openweathermap.org/find
  2. In the search field, type the desired city name. For precision (to avoid duplicate city names), append a 2-letter country code (e.g., London, GB to distinguish it from London, Ohio, USA).
  3. Click the target city name in the search results.
  4. After the page reloads, check your browser's address bar. The URL will follow this format:
    https://old.openweathermap.org/city/2643743

  5. The numeric string at the end of the URL (e.g., 2643743 in the example above) is the city ID πŸ”’.
