When you select a locked slot in the character select menu, the game loads for a bit. This means the unlocked characters' graphics are preloaded but not the locked static character.

Steps to Reproduce

Open the character select and press right

This is still an issue.

I believe a fix for this would probably fix the lag issue with the pico unlock animation that I reported in #3164. Not sure why I closed it
