I needed to update this as otherwise clippy::incompatible_msrv was firing on one function call, and it seems to line up with the README.md.

Yeah it should be 1.50, and was in any case planning to bump that to 1.56.0 soon to be able to update the rust edition for next release.

Just spotted some clippy lints firing, and fixed them up. Mostly just simple readability improvements.
