5.4-1.0.0-imx: fix various busfreq-related build issues #75
5.4-1.0.0-imx: fix various busfreq-related build issues #75
Conversation
busfreq-imx.c fails to build when HAVE_IMX_BUSFREQ is not set. Signed-off-by: Matthias Schiffer <matthias.schiffer@tq-group.com>
All i.MX6 variants reference imx_busfreq_map_io() and thus fail to build without Busfreq. Signed-off-by: Matthias Schiffer <matthias.schiffer@tq-group.com>
smp_wfe_imx6 is only used for i.MX6Q. Including it in i.MX6SX-only configurations causes two build issues: - The symbols it defines conflict with fallback definitions in common.c - It scu_power_mode, which is undefined without HAVE_ARM_SCU Signed-off-by: Matthias Schiffer <matthias.schiffer@tq-group.com>
Fixes a build failure because of undefined symbols in i.MX6UL-only configurations. The same is done in rel_imx_4.14.78_1.0.0_ga. Signed-off-by: Matthias Schiffer <matthias.schiffer@tq-group.com>

@schiffermtq thx for sending this.
@schiffermtq Can you please tell where those patches are originated from? I'm doing now the update to v5.4.42 and would also include patches in the update. In order to do that, I would need to know whether they are coming from NXP tree or you developed them yourself, or they are backported from some place else? This is required to keep a tracking information in the kernel recipe, so those patches are recorded in the proper category (see tracking information comment in recipe ) Thanks a lot! -- andrey |
@zandrey I developed these patches myself, otherwise I would have mentioned their origin. |
@schiffermtq Thanks for update, I just needed a confirmation from you on that, because this would then depend on in which tracking category those patches are recorder into. @otavio Should those patches be added to -- andrey |

This happens because the adding of task_work from io_ring_exit_work() isn't synchronized with canceling all work items from eg exec. The execution of the two are ordered in that they are both run by the task itself, but if io_tctx_exit_cb() is queued while we're canceling all work items off exec AND gets executed when the task exits to userspace rather than in the main loop in io_uring_cancel_generic(), then we can find current->io_uring == NULL and hit the above crash. It's safe to add this NULL check here, because the execution of the two paths are done by the task itself. Fix a number of Kconfig and Makefile issues breaking the build in various configurations without i.MX7.
The same will also need to be applied to the 5.4-2.0.x-imx branch eventually, it exhibits the same breakage.
Note: I'll be on vacation for the next week, and might not answer in a timely manner if there are any questions.
